What is The World's Sin?

What causes sin? What is it that causes people to do that which is unrighteous, unholy, impure, and detestable? I believe Martin Luther got it right in coming to the conclusion that sin is caused by an unbelief in God. He drew this conclusion from the following verses:

"8 And when he comes, he will convince the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment. 9 The world's sin is unbelief in me." (John 16:8-9, NLT).

Now Jesus is talking here, and the "he" Christ talks about is the Holy Spirit. As you can see in verse nine "The world's sin is unbelief in me." Oh come on! You might say, "lying has nothing to do with unbelief!" I beg to differ; if you really believe God knows when you lie you will be less inclined to do it. If we still do it we are not convicted enough of God's judgement. Or Jonah running away from God, Jonah did not believe God would know where he was, if he did I doubt he would have left home. Or, take for instance David and Bethsheba. If David really considered that God would know what he did in secret David probably would not have done it. We can see in every example how unbelief led to sin.

We can clearly see the cause of sin is unbelief in God. This unbelief (or doubt) is the opposite of faith. "So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith" (Hebrews 11:6, NLT). If we are unbelieving we are doing the exact opposite of what God wants us to do. And God wants the best for us. He wants us to live life satisfied. The problem is we are going to the wrong places to get satisfaction. We are going to psychics, astrologists, maybe even cryptozoologists to get satisfaction there and we are going there because we don't believe God will fill our thirst. But God has given us what we really want, we just need to go to Him for it. "Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, "If you are thirsty, come to me!" (John 7:37, NLT) There isn't a more open invitation to be filled, and Jesus doesn't give us stagnant well water. He says "If you believe in me, come and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within." (John 7:38, NLT). Now rivers of living water! That is exciting, that is fulfilling, satisfying, and so much more! Anyone who wants to dupe you into a dry religion has got Christianity all wrong!

We can see our problems, I have realized that all sin comes from unbelief. Sin is not what God has planned for us. God has rivers of living water planned for us! Which is so much better then the shallow, stagnant wells the world would lead us to. Those wells will only lead to death, Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life throught Christ. I John 1:9 tells us "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (KJV). And Romans 10:9 tells us "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (KJV).

So we can repent of our sins, confess Jesus as Lord and accept Him as our risen Savior; or, one can continue drinking from stagnant, contaminated water. No matter how good that well water seems we all know that Living Water is better, and that is what Christ has promised.

If only...

Ok, this is how most of us guys honestly feel. I'm not gonna say I agree with everything in here, but I do for the most part, so here it is.

Body: From a guys point of view:

We don't care if you talk to other guys.

We don't care if you're friends with other guys.

But when you're sitting next to us, and some random guy walks into the room and you jump up and tackle him, without even introducing us, yeah, it ticks us off.

It doesn't help if you sit there and talk to him for ten minutes without even acknowledging the fact that we're still there.

We don't care if a guy calls you, but at 2 in the morning we do get a little concerned. Nothing is that important at 2 a.m. that it can't wait till the morning.

Oh, just some thoughts.

Greetings.

Has anyone ever asked you a question that made you think?

In case you don't know by answering that, thought was required, so everyone should have answered yes. But once someone asked me something that really makes one think. Did God ever make a mistake?

Just so you know where I'm going with this the answer is no. God has NEVER and will NEVER make a mistake. The ACLU is mans fault, not God's. The question was really asked to me though in reference to God's judgement on Isreal, and the Flood and things like that.

In all logic it is impossible to say God made a mistake. God is perfect so mistakes would be out of His very nature. His judgement on earth is absolutely justified. Because with His divine love there is also divine justice. In all justice God could not allow man to continue on his path at several points in history. Because God disciplines those He loves. I am reminded of when David sins by taking a census; and God says David can choose to be punished by man or by God. David chooses God because David says God may be more merciful then man. And I believe man would have done much worse to Isreal under David given the chance.

God also warned Isreal before He allowed Babylon and its enemies to conquer it. He gave them the chance to turn from there wicked ways. When they did not and God punished them it was in all justice.

Just something to think about. God bless!
