God in the lord of the rings

Does anyone have anything to say about the spiritual current in the lotr. There is somewhat of a heated debate over weather those books and movies are evil. I've read the books and own both the books and movies. I do not really feel distanced from God after watching or reading them. Remember the Following points.
1. All witchcraft is evil.
2. Read into the books and movies and see if you can make a connection to the Bible. If you can not maybe you ought to ask God about it via prayer.
3. Tolkien was a Christian, infact he is the human responsible for C.S. Lewis' conversion.
